According to Malcon X., education is the passport to the future. Truly, education is the light that enables us to see the future fortune. However Aristotle states that the roots of education are bitter but its fruits are sweet, Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace provides education which is sweet from the roots to fruits. Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace is a modern school which is located at Kibagabaga of Kimironko in the heart of Kigali City. It opened its doors in 2008 under the mission of forming a complete person who is well made (trained) rather than a well filled one. Saint Ignace of Loyola; the Jesuit Priest from whom the school name originated had thought of that tough mission in order to promote education that prepares intellectual and skilled future leaders and servants for the society. The school (EPSI), itself is the light because its actions reach all the corners of Rwanda hence many parents wish to have their children in its setting. After fifteen years of existence, Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace has brought forth both nursery ans secondary schools.

Recently, the EPSI (Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace) school has given birth to the nursery school (EMSI: Ecole Maternelle Saint Ignace ) where young children are well trained to become real brothers and sisters to serve the society not only at school but also in all families and communities where they live today and in the different settings where they will live and work in the future.  Previously, Saint Ignatius High School (SIHS) was also born from EPSI in 2011 but the need for a nursery school persisted. That is why in 2021 the nursery school was established. The trinity that lies among EMSI, EPSI and SIHS makes the brightest light not only in Kigali but also wherever in Rwanda and abroad because of spiritual, intellectual and moral values that are provided to learners by the most blessed, talented, caring and skilled teachers together with the sanctified priests of Jesuits.Most importantly, our infancy needs to face peace and harmony. This is why many parents choose to bring their children to Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace. Children feel more comfortable and develop confidence with their most friendly teachers in the most conducive environment where excellence remains the habit and happiness reigns in each and every heart.

Secondly, modern civilisation aims at holistic growth. A person needs not only to grow physically but also morally, mentally and spiritually. Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace prepares the Rwandan future by teachings not only heads but also the hearts and hands of its children. This is done through lifelong learning activities and moral values that train children to do different domestic activities and develop kind and generous values such as apology and forgive, cooperation and compassion, tolerance and empathy together with patriotism and fear of the lie and sin or crime. Additionally, critical thinking, innovation and creativity as well as communication skills practices are the daily routines for the Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace School children. But above all, the prayer leads all the activities which take place in the school.

Besides peaceful atmosphere and holistic education, technology is another key element. The future life to be successful, every person needs ICT skills nowadays. This is why everyone who studies at Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace is trained to manipulate computers and other technological devices like tablets and smart phones then carry out both guided and free research in order to be more creative and innovative. The use of ICT is also identified in the offices, libraries and staff room. Teachers are provided with computers with which they prepare what to teach and type different works to be done both in the class and at home.

Furthermore, learners of Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace are encouraged to educate one another. By doing so, they will develop co-operation, unity and solidarity which are the key ways of promoting peace in the school, society, country and the world.

To sum up, Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace is the right light to Rwandan society because of its basic and fruitful holistic education it provides by educating the whole person; head, hand and heart. Most people wish to bring their children to Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace however the buildings are not enough to accommodate all of them. That is why my prayers are all about the extention of the buildings at Kibagabaga and the construction of new Ecole Primaire Saint Ignace in other parts of Rwanda.
